First look at Poldark and The Crown stars in tennis drama series

Poldark may have finished and The Crown may be wrapping up soon enough, but some of the shows’ stars are turning their attention to the tennis court for a brand new drama.

From writer and creator Hania Elkington, Fifteen Love will be arriving on Amazon Prime Video in the UK and Ireland next year, with Poldark‘s Aidan Turner and newcomer Ella Lily Hyland starring as the leads.

The Crown‘s Anna Chancellor, Charm‘s Jessica Darrow, House of the Dragon‘s Steffan Rhodri, and more are also set to join the drama.

Hyland is due to play Justine Pearce, a young sports prodigy who had a meteoric rise in the world of Grand Slam Tennis, while Turner will take on the role of her coach, Glenn Lapthorn.

Promising “a gripping and sensitive exploration of trust, power and obsession”, Fifteen Love re-visits the pair’s dynamic following a devastating injury that forces Justine off the court.

The official synopsis teases: “Five years on, now aged 22, Justine is a therapist at her old tennis academy, Longwood, alongside her former physio. It seems like she is finally healed, both physically and psychologically, from her humiliating downfall on the global stage.

“But when Justine makes an explosive allegation against her former coach, everyone at Longwood is forced to reconsider everything they thought they knew about Justine and Glenn’s past success.”

Set to examine “the intense physical and mental pressures of professional sport”, as well as the relationships that define it, Fifteen Love will see Justine and Glenn “battle over the truth… as they both seek glory at the Grand Slam grass court event of the year.”

In a statement, Aidan Turner said he was “excited” to be taking on the role: “Hania’s scripts and characters are so incredibly layered and nuanced, tackling themes and issues within the world of sport that I don’t feel have been explored on screen before. I am excited to take on the complex role of Glenn and can” wait to work with Ella, Hania, World Productions, Prime Video and the rest of the cast to bring this important story to life.”

Ella Lily Hyland added: “When I read Fifteen Love I was instantly struck by how important and unique the story felt. Hania’s writing is looking at the grayer areas in relationship and power dynamics. Justine is such a gorgeous, complicated character. I feel so lucky to be playing her de ella and to be part of such a brave and bold team.

Fifteen Love will launch on Prime Video UK and Ireland some time next year.
